Colorado adopted a flag in 1911 and modified it in 1964. The yellow and white colors in the flag refer to the mining of gold and silver. Those colors, along with the flag's blue, represent the colors of Colorado's state flower. The red "C" marks the Spanish word for that color, colorado.
